Weekend Update

Well… this last weekend was a very busy one for the team. The whole gang did a hit and run on Houston and College Station. So, what on earth could be worth the torture of driving from Abilene to this part of the world and back in the same weekend? Well, two fantastic reasons.

First off, the whole team came down because we had a meeting scheduled with the First Colony Missions Committee. We had a fantastic meeting… it’s a pleasure every time we see them. The committee got a chance to meet The Fletchers and The Thompsons for the first time… which was great. The main reason for our meeting, though, was to share some of the stuff we learned from our recent trip to Lima… to share some more of our hopes, dreams and plans… and to discuss the possibility of an ongoing partnership between First Colony and our team. We had a great time together and, for now, we are all praying about what the future might hold.

Secondly, we had some time scheduled to spend with the A&M Church of Christ on Sunday evening. Unfortunately, we (the Yoakums), didn’t get to make it for this… for some reason, driving a few hours in a car with a 6 month old while all three are either recovering from or actively experiencing a pretty vicious stomach bug doesn’t really do it for me. So, we sat this one out. No worries, we’re all better now. Anyways… everybody else got to share in worship with the A&M CofC and give an update and somewhat of a rehash of our recent survey trip to Lima.

So… that’s all the big news for now. Hopefully pretty soon we’ll get into a pretty regular posting schedule around here… so don’t give up on us if we’re slow.
