472 years ago today, on January 18th, 1535, Francisco Pizarro founded the city of Lima. 472 years… that’s a long time! It soon became the most important city in South America and was the greatest metropolis on the continent for more than 300 years. Long known as “The City of Kings,” Lima is still one of the most influential cities in South America. The birthday celebrations have included fireworks, food festivals, concerts, native cultural exhibitions and one really big cake… ok, not so sure about the cake… but, sounds like a good time to me.
