The last several months of team training have been filled with moments of growth, joy, and excitement. We have been blessed with the chance to grow closer to one another, to the fulfillment of our dreams, and to God. We are learning more about each team member’s individual personality while seeing the personalities of our kids grow and blossom! Truly, our time together since September has been wonderful.
During this time, our team has been trying to walk along a narrow path. On one side of the path, there is the danger of working and planning too much. The source of this danger springs from an over-emphasis in our own abilities, commonly known as “getting the big head.” When we walk on this side, we might think to ourselves, “By working hard enough, we can guarantee the success of our mission.” On the other side lies the danger of not working and planning hard enough - the “let God take care of it while we put up our feet” side of things.
As a team, we are attempting to prepare for the mission field to the best of our ability. We have talked missions strategies, begun to learn Spanish, hammered out issues of particular significance for our future, and strengthened relationships with one another. But through all of our preparations, we always strive to remember that the Lord is the giver of all good things and the one who will bring the increase in the mission field. We work, but always with faith in the forefront of our minds; we plan, trusting that it is God who will ultimately guide our footsteps. Please join us in praying that we will always stay “on the path” between the extremes of laziness and self-reliance. All praise be to Almighty God!
