Just about a week ago, Mark and I had a great opportunity to spend a few days in Monclova, Mexico with a fabulous group of Christians. We went down there with a message of encouragement as, although the church has been in fairly good ‘health’, they have recently experienced some tough times. After going, I have no doubt that God used our group of 6 to bring a sense of renewal to the church’s leadership. We were able to fellowship (obviously with mounds of food!) with these hermanos, worship with them, hear their stories, share ourselves with them, teach and just be involved in their lives, if for only a very short while.
I personally felt so good about our time with these brothers and sisters. I couldn’t help but think about life in Lima. Would it be similar? What will the body of believers look like there some 3, 4, 5 years down the road? For us, it really is exciting to think about. We are certainly careful to remember that any success we have in Lima will be by His power alone. I guess, however, we just get so darn giddy when thinking about rolling up our sleeves and working with these people. I am convinced that only a gracious and loving God could nurture such an excitement! I can’t wait to see what all He will do…
