It is only natural that you would want to get to know the loved ones of your loved ones. Parents want to meet their children’s friends; spouses need to meet one another’s families; friends hear about the new relationships that their friends are forming; and teammates meet the supporting congregations of their other teammates. Well, at least that is what our team decided that we wanted to do, and we began carrying out that decision this past weekend.
On Friday, we drove in to Kaufman, TX, where the Yoakums are currently living while spending time with the Kaufman Church of Christ. Throughout the weekend, we spent time discussing important team matters, enjoying one another’s company, strengthening relationships, and getting to know church members. On Saturday evening, we had a pot-luck meal with some elders, ministers, and missions committee members. Then, on Sunday morning, we had a panel discussion during class time, and during the service Wes and Stacy introduced our team to the entire church.
So, the summary: time with loved ones and time with the loved ones of loved ones. As we get to know one another on deeper and more personal levels, we are learning about one another’s families, close friends, home churches, and other significant relationships. This weekend, we were thankful to get to know the people that have become so important to the Yoakums: people who have had the Yoakums into their homes; people who minister with the Yoakums; people who are and will be praying for the Yoakums. We were thankful to get to know our wonderful brothers and sisters at the Kaufman Church of Christ.
