Team Lima had the privilege of visiting the “Second Biggest Paris in the World,” this past weekend! As many of you know, Tara and I have partnered with the Lamar Avenue Church of Christ here in Paris, Texas, and have been living here since January in an effort to develop relationships in the congregation before we leave the country. It has been an amazing ride so far, and we thank God daily for joining us together with such a wonderful community of faith. When the Lamar Avenue Church of Christ partnered with us, they knew, because we were a part of a team, that they were also partnering with Mark, the Fletchers, the Thompsons, and the Yoakums. For this reason, we, as a team, have made it a priority to go visit each of our team members supporting congregations prior to going to Lima. This not only allows the church members to get to know our team members, but it also allows our team members to get know our supporting churches on a more personal level. Last month, our team visited Wes & Stacy’s partnering congregation, the Kaufman Church of Christ in Kaufman, Texas. This month, it was our turn to host the team. The weekend could not have gone any better. On Friday and Saturday our team was able to spend some time together and get some business accomplished (Justin & Alison were the only team members who could not attend because they were in Tennessee meeting with a church about a possible partnership). On Sunday the team sat on a panel during Bible class and answered questions from the congregation, and we were prayed over during the main assembly by the elders. After services a meal was prepared for us by the church, and we ate with the elders, ministers, and missions committee. The goal was for there to be personal relationships established between the team and the church and that goal was accomplished. Thanks to all those that helped make this weekend possible here in Paris. As do the rest of our team with their respective partnering congregations, Tara and I feel so blessed to have partnered with the Lamar Avenue Church of Christ and looking forward to the years ahead as we work together to reach the lost of Peru.
