Lima Video

In the midst of learning about irregular verb tenses, increasing our Spanish vocabulary, growing together as a team, and living day-to-day life here in Costa Rica, it is sometimes easy to take for granted the fact that in the near future we will be in Lima, Peru answering God’s call to share the Gospel. A couple of weeks ago, I was blessed with a reminder of what our team can expect when we arrive in Lima, and what God is already doing among the Peruvian people. A good friend of mine here at language school, who is also going to Lima, Peru, introduced me to a song by Texas A&M grad Chris Tomlin named, “God of this City.” When he and his wife listened to the song, they thought of Lima. I had the same experience when I listened to the song, and decided to make a short video with the song in the background. This video gets me really excited about joining God’s work in Lima, Peru. I hope you have just as much enjoyment watching this video as I had making it…

Wow! That was wonderful! It touches my heart that there are people like you to spread the word of God to other parts of the world. Our prayers are with you, and I can’t tell you how much the video of your family was so appreciated. It was so exciting to all of us to see you in our worship Sunday morning. Keep sending those videos! It feels like we are right there with you! We love you all. The Durens

Whoa. It was not just the cold that has chills running up and down my legs. In fact, I had to call Kel and let him listen to “TEXAS A&M grad” Chris Tomlin sing. Of course Kel recognized the song right away and asked, “Are you listening to that off JM’s….” YES!

    Blessings, our dear friends.

If that doesn’t stir all of us to say the same prayer for Lima and for the city we live and worship in ourselves, we need to rethink our relationship with God. Thanks for your desire to spread God’s love and allow Him to do great things through you. You are in our prayers and in our minds as we try to do the same here.
    love,

Great video with a great song for the One Great God! May God burst open many doors in Lima for His Word to be heard.
The fact that “God of this City” was composed in a bar in Pattaya, Thailand makes it pull at the heart even more.
God bless your team in every step!

    Team Lima,
Wow. This is such a powerful video. When you showed the pictures of the people, it really tugged at my heart. I actually have known and come to love Peruvians that remind me of those faces. The last verse that you posted is what I cling to in my mission here. It is only God’s power working through me. When I think about Arequipa (a city with little over a million people–much smaller than Lima) is seems like an insurmountable task to take on without some other power. Well, we have that power. And it is His city.

Thanks for the encouragement I receive from you guys. I look forward to the day that teamAREQUIPA can meet all of Team Lima. You guys are certainly in our prayers.

I have joined a church here in Tulsa, OK this semester called The Gathering that is mission-oriented and this song is one that we frequent. It is exciting to be reminded that the God we serve is marvelous enough to produce “greater things” in both in Tulsa AND in Lima. :)

    Love all of you!
